Learn To Eat At Home! 12/29/2020

Every time Empress leaves the house, she believes that she needs to go to a market, a store or a restaurant before she returns home. Not necessarily in that order but in her mind, it is necessary that we visit all three. Pre-COVID19, she also included the park on her aforementioned “to do list” however, she understands that the “keyronie virus” is a thing and the parks closed as a result.

I have been fairly transparent in my truth of not being as domesticated of a wife/mother as I should have been in the past and so, eating out for us was an almost daily occurrence. In the past. Let me just reiterate that lol. Now that I’m home exclusively, I make an effort to put home cooked meals on the table daily minus Friday evenings. And sometimes Saturday evenings too. And maybe even on...ok, you get the point. I’m a work in progress, don’t judge me!

But today, something special happened. The kids and I were leaving the park (not the playground but the park where they were running around the soccer fields, socially distant of course) and Empress asked, “Mummy, can we go to the Happy Meal place because I'm really hungry”?

“No Girlfriend, we have food at home”.

“I don’t want to eat that food. I want a Happy Meal from McDonald’s”.

“Empress, we’re not going to McDonald’s because I cooked and we have food at home. You need to learn to eat at home”. As soon as it came out of my mouth, I knew it was Father and all I could do was say, “speak Lord”.

We have to learn to eat at home.

If it’s one thing that I KNOW, I KNOW that children eat A LOT! Keeping the fridge and pantry stocked can be a full-time job itself. And for those times when there is more month than money, we parents will forsake paying a bill at the expense of putting a meal on the table for our children to eat. We will even go so far as to forsake our own meal and instead, happily eat bread, so that our children can eat to their satisfaction. The stronghold of pride crumbles to dust when a mother has no food to feed her children and it will cause her to pick up the phone, stand in a line, even steal and rob, to put food on the table. The dread and fear of not having food in your home is greater than the fear of not having money; at least it’s like that for me. If we parents know how to ensure that our children eat, how much more does God, our Father, do the same for us?

The scriptures in John 1:12 states that, “but to as many as did receive Him, to those who put their trust in His Person and power, He gave the right to become children of God” (CJB Translation). He says that He gives us the right to become children of God. Once we exercise that right, we know that we’ll face challenges but we praise God that we won’t have to face them hungry (unless, we’re on a fast)! The psalmist said in Psalm 37:25 (CSB Translation), “I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned or his children begging for bread”. There have been many days that I stood on that scripture and I will testify for myself that the word of God is true! Father is so concerned that the children of the righteous be fed because He knows the dire consequences that prolonged hunger has on the body and the spirit. Father knows that prolonged hunger causes malnutrition, organ failure and disease in the body (our own individual physical and spiritual bodies as well as the collective Body of Christ). He knows that hunger causes mental faculties to become diminished and areas such as language, motor skills and language to be impaired (sometimes permanently). Father is well aware that starvation causes a child to physically not grow and mature. There was a horrific case of child abuse in California a few years ago involving starvation, amongst other things. When the police saw these children, actually, some of them were adults over the age of 18, the police thought they were about 10 years old! Father knows these things and that is precisely why He promised to feed His children. Notice, He didn’t say that the parents would be fed. The blessing and protection of the food supply was upon the children. Praise the Lord, it applies to us as we are His children!

What we feed our children is equally as important. We can’t feed our children junk food and expect for them to not be “junky”. I relied heavily on eating out in times past. As a matter of fact, in January 2020 I started budgeting utilizing a function in my bank’s app. My goal was to spot the leak and save money. Well, it didn’t take long to see that my leak was really a massive hole called, “Dining Out”. In January alone, we spent almost $1,000.00 on dining out! We were spending so much money on eating and yet, the quality of food was not rich. Foods cooked in fat and oil, meals cooked by strangers. We consumed fast food that was leading us to fast death.

We have to learn to eat at home! But, where is home? Home is within our hearts! Remember in Ephesians 3:17, Apostle Paul says “that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith” (KJV Translation). That word “dwell” is actually replaced in some translations with the words “home” and “live”. The CJB Translation of the same read, “so that the Messiah may live in your hearts through your trusting. Also I pray that you will be rooted and founded in love”. Look at how amazing our Father is! We don’t have to leave our homes and risk exposing others and ourselves to the COVID-19 because God lives in our hearts! That saying, “home is where the heart is” is true! Everywhere we go, we are comforted because we are home. Everywhere the soles of our feet tread, we are safe at home because home is in our hearts.

There is food in His house that He desires to feed us with! It is up to us to determine if we are going to learn to eat at home. Empress, the negotiator that she is, in her plea for a Happy Meal and in response to my telling her we have food in the house, said, “we only have 1 thing to eat at home”. This was so not true but what she was expressing was her disdain for the lack of VARIETY of food in the house. We can be guilty of that too. Remember, the Hebrews craved leeks and onions and quail as they grew weary of eating manna for morning, noon, lunch and snack.

He is the bread of life, He gives us the milk and the meat of His word. He allows us to eat from His revelations, His prophecies, His visions. I am reminded of Prophet Elijah when he was on the run for his life from Jezebel. After journeying just one day in the wilderness, he was begging for God to take his life. And what did Father do? Father sent him food. “Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat”. Then he looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and lay down again. And the angel of the LORD came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you”. So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God” 1Kings 19:5-8 (NKJV Translation).

We need to learn to eat at home because the food that He provides is tailored to meet our specific and individual nutritional needs. What Father is serving me for dinner may be different than what He is serving you. Now, that doesn’t mean that I can’t come over and eat at your house for a day. But it does mean that, when I come to eat at your house, I must also bring my own dish. Even in the physical world we know that it is rude to be invited to dine at someone’s home and not bring a dish! We aren’t even at the time when He calls for us to seek Him. That’s when we get to behold the wonder and beauty of fellowshipping one to another as we dine together and with Jesus, at His supper! This is the revelation of 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, especially verses 33-34a; “so then, my brothers, when you gather together to eat, wait for one another. If someone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you meet together it will not result in judgement” (CJB Translation).

We are in the miraculous time of, “behold! Arise and eat”! This is a time of great supernatural strengths and breakthrough where the food that He gives us, will strengthen us for 40 days and 40 nights! The food that He gives us will allow us to go from strength to strength, from glory to glory. Learn to eat at home is the word of Father to us at this time.

In His Love,

Reina
